Texas DOT, Who is Required to have it?

Home>>Get Your Authority>>Texas DOT

In 2009, the Texas Legislature passed House Bill 2985 requiring intrastate carriers to have a USDOT number to get a TX Motor Carrier Registration (MCR) Certificate. Currently, this USDOT # will not replace a TX MCR #. Some TX intrastate carriers already have a USDOT number, and do not need to get another one; just make sure that it is on file with TxDMV. Both TX MCR certificate # and USDOT # must have the same information--name, address, etc. Not having a USDOT # will affect your ability to get, renew, or re-register a TX MCR certificate.
